Instant Trax Content Asylum - Sales
Sales of music has been dropping for years. It used to be that bands could put out a cd or cassette and folks would snap it up. I remember as a youngster waiting with impatience for the next record or casette to be put out by my favorite bands. Bands like Frampton, Heart, Lynard Skynard, Jethro Tull, Styx, Yes, and others. But with all the different avenues the consumer has to listen to their music, straight up music sales isn't what it used to be.
Of course the exception would be super star bands like lady gaga, lady antebellum, katie perry, u2, and a few others. They can put out an album or CD and they'll set all kinds of sales records.
And if an act can't or is not willing to take their act on the road, then forget about it. Any act looking to sell their cd or album has to absolutely take the show on the road. It used to be that acts could just bury themselves in their studio and pump out studio music and make sales. Not anymore.
So if you're an up and coming artist and you're concerned about the sales of whatever album or CD you produce, make sure to take it on the road. It's all about promote, promote, promote. You do that, and you'll definitely make sales.
